An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were between nine and ten.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the facility in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he ran.
The man played a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild contacted the police about his concerns.
She stated Ruben continued to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member contacted the authorities once more.
She explained Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
