Miami put up eighty-six first-half scores versus the Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a crushing 146-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their first NBA match after player Rozier was detained for alleged unlawful sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested as part of a broad FBI investigation into illegal gambling. Both men contest the allegations.

But, the Miami team were not distracted as they scored 86 first-half scores to be ahead of the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the biggest half-time advantage in the team's 37 year existence.

Bam Adebayo led the way with twenty-four scores and afterwards stated Rozier had the support of the team.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Adebayo stated. "You support him through and through. He's like family ultimately."

Miami head coach Spoelstra added: "Terry is a person who is important to all of us. He's had a real positive impact on our locker room.

Portland also won their first game since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the squad to a convincing 139-119 victory against the Golden State Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and how he coached," Splitter remarked. "We're thinking of him and his family but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' by Recent Events

Speaking about the detentions for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the fairness of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."

The commissioner also mentioned an league probe into the player's conduct in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he played for the Charlotte Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were open regarding it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"So, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an charge.

"And 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in justice to Terry.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and investigating."

Rockets were defeated 115-111 by the Pistons even with thirty-seven scores from Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had 29 scores, eleven boards and 9 blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' overtime win against the New Orleans.
