Letitia James Faces Federal Financial Fraud Indictment
A national judicial panel has indicted Letitia James over allegations of bank fraud on Thursday, per a person familiar with the matter.
Lindsey Halligan directly submitted the charges to the grand jury this Thursday, according to the source.
Federal prosecutors rarely appear before such panels.
Halligan took over as US attorney the previous month following the president expressed dissatisfaction over the speed of investigations targeting political opponents.
The move represents the newest attempt to weaponize the DOJ to penalize adversaries.
It comes 14 days following charges were filed against James Comey.
Experienced attorneys wrote a document regarding that situation detailing why indictments lacked merit.
Comey denied the charges on Wednesday.
