Hodgkinson achieved her personal best of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap season with a triumph at the women-only Athlos event in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic champion, who secured third place at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a season affected by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Bell finished second once more in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) secured third place.

"I've barely raced this season so it was likely easier for me to compete and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive meet packed the stadium in its second year, bringing a party atmosphere to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena Williams, who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was on hand to present the winners with their crowns.

Previous champions took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.

The competition also drew several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and global record breaker Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the 100m and 200m double.
