Exploring an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have encountered a variety of entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer lets you play a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop striving to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. In one hundred fifty levels, you'll face mini-bosses and unlock a store to buy customizations for your dung hero.

Time your actions carefully, as a wrong move means restarting the level. Leap on air pockets to hurl the poop to new heights, cross fragile surfaces, and interact with buttons to unlock hidden paths. Gather coins for buying more difficult levels where gameplay intensifies.

In terms of design, the experience shows off neon level designs and catchy music score. The simple graphics of morphing basic polygons evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's tough to name similar titles where you are a coiled turd, video games have long included fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. Naturally, such content is present heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is ready now on Steam, with the full game scheduled to debut on PC on November 19.
