Aircraft Transporting US Defense Secretary Required to Land in UK Due to Crack in Cockpit Window
A plane carrying the US defense secretary was required to make an unplanned landing in the UK on Wednesday after a crack was identified in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official announcement which confirmed that all passengers were secure.
"The jet landed based on standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, among them Secretary Hegseth, is secure," an official representative commented in a public statement.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to Brussels during the flight.
This incident isn't the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a top government figure has suffered mechanical issues.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was compelled to head back to the US capital after suffering a technical issue.
